Simrik chopper crash-lands at Grande Hospital’s helipad

Jun 30, 2018-A helicopter belonging to Simrik Air crash-landed while attempting to land at the rooftop helipad of Grande International Hospital in Dhapasi, Kathmandu.

No casualties have been reported, informed Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (Caan).

Caan Director General Sanjiv Gautam said the helicopter slipped at the final approach to the helipad of the hospital. The chopper with call sign 9N-ALR fell some 10 feet below the helipad.

The chopper was planning to fly to Bharatpur in Chitwan with a patient.

Dr Govinda KC begins hunger strike at police office after arrest

Jun 30, 2018-Senior orthopedic surgeon Dr Govinda KC has started his fast-unto-death at Jumla Police Office following his arrest on Saturday.

KC was arrested from District Administration Office premises. He was stopped while on his way to Jumla Teaching Hospital before he went to DAO where he was arrested before he could begin his hunger strike.

Speaking over the phone KC said he has been kept at the police office where he began his strike from 3 pm.

Police had charged batons to KC’s supporters for entering into the prohibited area of the DAO. Two of KC’s supporters were injured in the incident. DAO had declared prohibited zone around its premises to stop KC from staging the strike there.

Dr KC had flown to Jumla to stage a hunger strike putting forth a six-point demand including standing against the alterations with the Medical Education Ordinance Replacement Bill. He has also taken up the issue of delay in admission of MBBS students in Karnali Academy of Health Sciences and sluggish progress made in the Geta Medical College, Dhangadi, in his demand.
